TENDERNESS THE VERY DAY I'M GONE

To celebrate the release of her new EP Heat Wave Love Song, London-based songwriter Tenderness shares a charming visualiser for trad folk cover 'Very Day I'm Gone'. The song feels incredibly important to the artist as she explains via Instagram, "‘Very Day I’m Gone’ is often attributed to ballad singer Addie Graham. I discovered it via a beautiful version by banjo player Nora Brown & have opened every Tenderness show with it." Set over careful acoustic guitar and layers of luscious vocals, the piece feels more like a mediation more than anything else, introducing ethereal synths from the second verse onwards. Giving a touching glimpse into the making of the EP, the collage-style video displays snippets of time in the studio (Vacant TV) and the journey to and from it. Watch and listen to 'Very Day I'm Gone' and the rest of the EP, produced by Euan Hinshelwood (Cate Le Bon etc) at your earliest convenience. -Holly Mullineaux
